For two classy bitches, Blair and Chuck have really horrible namesmush pairing names. BLUCK AND CHAIR.
Chuck, like, date rapes the entire television audience through the series. First you're like "EW RAPIST" and then it's like "LOL RAPIST" and then it's like "LOL ILU... WAIT YOU'RE A RAPIST D:" and then you just LOSE YOUR DAMN MIND and enjoy the Chuck. I don't know. I DON'T KNOW. He wears you down with GHB and his hilarious diva/daddy issues and before you know it you're just waiting for him to show up and make the show interesting. It's fun to watch him struggle with "HUMAN EMOTIONS" and he's so GOOD at being fabulously immoral.
The idea of Dan as meta-commentary of the show is interesting, because his anger at Serena not telling the truth during the Georgina arc did NOT objectively make sense, and that could be a writing flaw. But at the same time, Dan had already been set up as being this judgmental prick who has stupid expectations for people, so his retarded behavior makes sense for his character. Is he SUPPOSED to be so insufferable?? Sometimes the show seems aware that Dan is hated for being such a prick (like the report on what people are saying about their break-up on the message boards in 2x03)... but why is he still presented as a protagonist? To be honest I think his character serves no function except to annoy. Jenny is more interesting, for gods sakes. JENNY! He is fucking redundant as a 'guide'; the show goes so over the top in crafting the super-rich, super-insular world of the Upper East Siders that his snide comments on how much better he is as a person because he's only super super upper middle class instead of filthy rich are not illuminating; they're pretentious. Jenny shows the contrast between Mere Mortals and MANHATTAN'S ~ELITE way more effectively. But, okay, I'll give Dan credit for being part of the plot device to get Rufus and Lily in each other's lives again. I LOVE THEM. I DON'T CARE. OMG TWENTY YEARS IN THE MAKING.
Nate is an idiot and I hate him. Ahaha I have nothing else to say. They gave him no personality right from the start (except for being a callous dick to his girlfriend) so I'm not surprised to hear that they drag him through a billion different storylines that don't make sense. I don't know how anyone could relate to him. He is such a sack of nothing. Boring, stupid nothing. That's what happens when you plant a Zac Efron clone in your show! NO ONE KNOWS WHY HE'S THERE. POINTLESS DRAMA ALL THE TIME.
conclusion, dan and nate are stupid and boring
