LET'S TALK ABOUT LOST
It is seriously amazing how into a show you can get when you don't like most of the characters. But damn if Lost doesn't know how to do a damn good hour of television. Lost usually consists of me and my sister yelling at the screen and/or talking all over it and/or staring in rapt O___O silence.
My favorites are still Desmond and Rousseau. I'm pissed at what they did with her in season 4 though. They treated her the same as Karl. KARL!! wat da fuque. I also like Sawyer, Juliet, Miles, Penny, Daniel, Sun, and Hurley. And Frank. Everyone else is middling to tiresome to hateworthy.
Jack is fucking stupid. He has so many feeeeelings, so many jears. He only beats Kate in terms of crying. Half the time they're just sitting there crying at each other anyway. I ALSO THINK BEN IS TIRESOME. He was really one-dimensional until the end of season 4. That one dimension was well-acted and convoluted, true, but it was still only one dimension.
I really love Miles, not just because Ken Leung is fucking awesome in that role, but also because that character could SO EASILY been cast as a grizzled loner white guy. Constantine and shit. I kind of don't like the perviness because it falls into the Asian guy stereotype too much for my liking, but otherwise Miles is aces.
And I don't care what the hell anyone thinks, I LOVE ANA LUCIA AND I LOVE MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ. Fuck the haters. She was badass. That moment in the second episode of season 5 made me really happy. ILU ANA LUCIA
The Constant was one of the best hours of television I've ever seen. PERFECT EPISODE. ;____; Desmond and Penny foreverrrr.
btw I have NEVER in my life felt girlier than when I was watching the season 4 finale and that part with the boat and awwwww.
Sayid and Desmond as the island representatives on the freighter is like TEAM ATTRACTIVE. Sayid needs to stop straightening his hair now though. And Sawyer needs to stop taking his shirt off, it is impossible to take him seriously. His head is all hairy and the rest of his body is completely hairless!! He looks fucking ridiculous.
I love Hurley's fambly.
Sun is so badass in season 5.
The explanation of the island is SO GOOD. SO GOOD. All shows should get a deadline if it gets this kind of creative push.
Okay I was really bummed to hear that Henry Ian Cusick, who plays Desmond, was sued for sexual harassment. I found myself really really wanting to believe that he didn't do it, that the woman was lying or misunderstanding, and that really grossed me out. Why is that the first instinct? I mean, I understand why, and it makes me have a bit more empathy for fans who leap to their favorite white guy's defense, but I'm still like, really self? You're going to be one of those people? It sucks to know that someone you like is very likely a grievous asshole. I'm a little disoriented by how torn I am. Strenuous character/actor distinction going on right here.
In closing, DESMOND RUNS FUNNY.
